New York Cosmetology Licensing Requirements
The New York State Department of State (DOS) oversees cosmetology licensing in New York. To obtain a New York cosmetology license, you must complete 1,000 hours of training at a New York-licensed cosmetology school, pass both the written and practical portions of the New York cosmetology exam, and submit a license application with the required fees.
